What’s new this Year?

New resources for all students studying for the new GCSE including interactive reading and listening materials.

In Year 7, 8 and 9 your child will study...

In Years 7, 8 and 9 there are four Spanish lessons each fortnight. In Year 7 pupils are placed in mixed ability groups and in Year 8 and 9 pupils work in sets according to their ability.

In Years 7, 8 and 9 pupils complete 4-5 units. Each unit consists of vocabulary, material and skills that address the success criteria in the new Key Stage 3 Programme of Study.  These include topics such as: introducing yourself, school, family, describing your area, your free time, TV and film, holidays, food and health.

In Year 10 and Year 11 your child will study…

GCSE Spanish

Pupils gain a GCSE from the Edexcel exam board. The 2-Year course covers assessments and exams in the four main skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing. From 2016 the new exam specification entails final written exams at the end of Year 11 and a speaking test carried out by the class teacher.

The Edexcel GCSE (9-1) specification provides coverage of vocabulary from many topics similar to those above for KS3 with an emphasis on students using Spanish in real situations and having to read and listen to authentic material from Spanish-speaking countries.
