Equality Objectives

Equality & Accessibility Statement
Parkside Community School is committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all students, staff, parents and carers. We welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty, as amended in 2023.We will not unlawfully discriminate against anyone because of a protected characteristic: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. We are committed to:

  • Eliminating unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation;
  • Advancing equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
  • Fostering good relations between people from different groups.

Inclusivity is at the core of our practice, and we aim to ensure equal opportunities throughout all aspects of our work and activities.

We are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all students, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socio-economic background.

The Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body review the progress we are making to meet our duties with regard to the protected groups (race, disability, gender, gender re-assignment, age, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, religion and belief) under the Equality Act (2010).

Our Equality Objectives reflect the school’s priorities and draw upon available data and other evidence. Careful analysis of this is undertaken in order to ensure that we are working to achieve improved outcomes for different groups.

Our statutory equality documents are:

  • Equality Objectives (published July 2024, next review July 2028) — setting out measurable aims for improving outcomes and reducing inequality.
  • Accessibility Plan (published July 2024, next review July 2027) — describing how we will increase disabled students’ access to the curriculum, physical environment and information.
  • SEN Information Report (updated annually) — with details of our SEND provision and the school’s SENCO
  • Behaviour Policy, Admissions Arrangements, Complaints Policy and other statutory policies, all available on our Policies webpage.

Our current Equality Objectives (2024–2028):

  1.  Use performance data to monitor pupil achievement and respond to variations between groups of learners, subjects, courses and key stages.
  2.  Continue to provide high-quality personalised learning and support for pupils with additional needs.
  3. Ensure new subject specifications and curriculum changes do not disadvantage vulnerable or protected groups.
  4. Promote understanding of diversity and inclusion through our PSHE and Anti-Discrimination curriculum.
  5. Raise the awareness and skills of staff to promote fairness, equality and good relations.

We review progress against these objectives annually and publish outcomes on our website. The Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body monitor our compliance with the Equality Act.
