Key stage 4
The newly formed Key Stage four team had their first fixture this week. The team comprised of an even mix of Year 10 and Year 11 took some time to find cohesion.
Under the “Caretaker” management of Miss Huddlestone and Miss Wigston the lads played really well with high levels of respect and resilience. We managed to find the back of the net with some great team work. Despite our keeper’s best efforts, Netherthorpe managed to find the back of the net twice. Final score, 2-2.

A change to last weeks development squad, a team of 12 players had their first run out. The first half was a good battle with plenty of opportunities, but Parkside couldn’t find the goal. Struggling to link play together, combined with a well structured opponent made the second half a really tough battle with Netherthorpe finding the back of the net on a couple more occasions. Defeat for Parkside.
Y8
On the back of the defeat last week, the year 8’s trained hard on Tuesday, and carried that same mentality into the match. A couple of HUGE throw-ins put us in good attacking positions, and it wasn’t long until the throw in was fumbled by the keeper and it found the back of the net. We claimed our 3rd goal after a beautiful cross across goal was accidentally knocked in by Netherthorpe. Final score 3-3.
Y9
The long run of being undefeated is becoming a heavy weight to hold, and the year 9’s were fully aware of the pressure that their reputation carries. The team, unchanged from last week, started strong, with Parkside dominating the possession. A few decisions didn’t go our way and it rattled the confidence of the lads, and before long Netherthorpe found the back of the net. Luckily we found the back of the net on 2 occasions. The boys persevered and switched it up a gear and scored again. Unfortunately, due to an injury of a player the game was postponed.
