Parkside Community School Governors are a body of people made up of representatives from school staff, parents, the local authority and the local community.
Governance at Parkside is strong - OFSTED 2017
The Governing Body has specific core functions:
- To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and the strategic direction of the school
- To hold the Headteacher and Leaders to account for the educational performance of Parkside staff and pupils
- To oversee and ensure the effective financial performance of the school; to ensure money is well spent, including Pupil Premium
Governors are a democratic group who take their roles and responsibilities seriously and they have a clear meeting structure.
There are 5/6 full Governing Body meetings per year.
Our Senior Leadership Team links are strong and proactive; Governors are paired with Leaders to focus on curriculum subjects and specific aspects of school life. The roles are linked to the School Improvement Plan and meeting reports are shared at the full Governing Body Meeting.
The Strategic Group meets with the Headteacher to discuss specific issues in preparation for the full Governing Body Meeting.
Governors at Parkside highly skilled and experienced people who pool their skills and knowledge when working together to make a difference to the school. They provide a balance of challenge and support for the Headteacher and staff.
Governors are continually striving to drive up standards at school They are a committed group who are passionate about education and improving the opportunities for our pupils.
All governors undertake personal and Governing Body training to make them as effective as possible. A Governing Body self-evaluation is undertaken annually.
Governors have a presence in school; they visit staff and pupils and support events.
The time they give and the positive contribution they make to school are second to none.
Their expectations are high, in return they demand the best possible outcomes for every single pupil.
