We are privileged to be the first school in Derbyshire to benefit from the support of the School Pastors.
School Pastors are volunteers who commit themselves to the service of young people in their community, offering a reassuring and friendly presence to pupils who may not feel able to speak openly to teachers or parents.
In partnership with Parkside, the School Pastors work to enhance the safety and emotional and social well-being of pupils through caring, listening and helping.
What do School Pastors do?
Parkside School Pastors began by patrolling an area of the school community. Over time, they have become an integral part of the educational experience for pupils and staff members alike. We are now proud to say that we can’t imagine Parkside without them!
Initiatives work to match the needs of the pupils and the local community with the capabilities of the School Pastors.
Current initiatives run by the Parkside School Pastors include one-to-one mentoring for young people to support emotional wellbeing, Gardening Club, Chess Club and Debate Club.
Parkside Pastors attend all our school and community events and are represented on our Governing Body.
On behalf of the entire Parkside Community, we wish to thank the Parkside Pastors for the care and support they provide.
